Montessori-Based Dementia Programming
®
helps residents reach attainable, personalized goals. Activities are designed to assist older adults in retaining knowledge and relearning activities of daily life.
We have two Montessori groups that meet each weekday morning. Each group consists of residents with common abilities and interests.
Residents are encouraged to get involved in all aspects Montessori activities, and the focus is on “the process, not the project.”
Montessori activity boxes are readily available for staff members to start a one-to-one or group activity.
Residents enjoy gardening and bird watching in the Horizonvue courtyard, and a wheelchair swing is available to ensure that everyone can participate in outdoor fun.
Grandvue’s birds, fish, cats, puppies and visiting children’s groups support the Eden Alternative for a more homelike environment.
