Eden
Alternative
Founded in 1991 by Dr. William Thomas, a Harvard-educated physician geriatrician, the Eden Alternative
strives to create a vibrant living and working environment for elders and staff.
This environment offers the opportunity to give care to other living creatures, and stresses spontaneous, meaningful community interaction.
Staff and management of
Eden
homes work toward culture change through ongoing training and a continued dedication to creating a life worth living for residents.
With increased opportunities for decision making and the support of their caregivers, elders can once again direct their own daily lives.
At Grandvue, we encourage any resident who has a “warm heart for a cold nose” to get involved in caring for and sharing love with the birds, fish, cats and puppies who also call the facility home.
Opportunities for intergenerational fun abound, from visiting preschool classes to holiday parties with local school children and activities with our VolunTeens.
Our Resident Council provides a forum for residents to come together to discuss issues and make decisions to impact their community.
